In 2022 Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, and as the war has dragged on NGOs are no longer able to fundraise effectively in their own country. Suddenly, they must pivot and attract international donations. Early in 2023, Nilufa Begum responded to a call for volunteers to provide prospecting research for Ukraine NGOs.
Nilufa shares what it’s like to work as part of a small group of volunteers, as well as the impact her research has had on her professional growth and her personal connection to Ukraine fundraisers.
When you are flying solo, research can feel lonely. Together, the Volunteer Researchers for Ukraine have collaborated on their professional growth as well as their personal connections.
While the Prospect Research Institute has provided the framework for this work to happen, it is the volunteers like Nilufa who put in the hours and shoulder the burden of figuring out how to solve this complex prospecting problem.
