New Instructors and Workshop Format

Due in no small part to the generosity of the prospect research community, the Prospect Research Institute continues to innovate to meet the needs of fundraising researchers. As a result of community feedback the Institute has introduced a new two-week workshop format and hired two new instructors.

“The workshop format accommodates wiggly topics such as capacity ratings, where there is no right or wrong way to go about the task, and discussion and sharing of the content takes priority. It also accommodates specific, advanced how-to topics, such as calculating stock splits,” says Jennifer Filla, CEO.

The Institute has scheduled three new workshops for the fall:

  1. Stock Splits Workshop
  2. Writing Workshop: Fundamentals for Profiles
  3. Writing Workshop: Mastering Concise Summary

Also, in the fall, Susan Shebar Fioribello, president and founder of Pear Research Group, will be joining the Institute as instructor for the popular Introduction to Prospect Profiles course. Also an instructor at Hofstra University, Susan’s experience includes serving as Director of Advancement Services and Director of APRA-Greater New York.

Susan holds a B.A. in psychology from Brandeis University, an M.A. in general/experimental psychology from LIU Post and is earning a Ph.D. (a.b.d) in Library and Information Studies at LIU Post.

Emily Kahn, Associate Director of Prospect Development with Drexel University, will be joining the Institute to lead the new Stock Splits Workshop. Her experience includes working as a Market Data Analyst for the Philadelphia Stock Exchange and serving as a former Director of APRA-Maryland. She holds a B.A. in mathematics from Hood College and has passed the Society of Actuaries’ Exam FM (Financial Mathematics).
